Impact

Paid in Full Oregon provides an opportunity for Adults in Custody (AIC’s) throughout the Oregon prison system to obtain an accredited 4 year college degree. The degree is a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts with an emphasis on Psychology, Social Services and Leadership. The graduates are becoming moral and spiritual leaders within the prison system.

By earning a bachelor’s degree, graduates are:

Providing peer/mentor services to other students

Serve as chaplain assistants.

Give other AIC’s hope by assisting with suicide watch, promoting gang renunciation, and cell-to-cell encouragement.

Serve as education tutors/mental health helpers.

More opportunities are currently being assessed by the DOC.

As a result, you are bringing hope and purpose to the lives of AIC’s and reduce prison violence:

25 AIC’s per year will be selected for the program.

Up to 100 students will be enrolled in the next four years. Our first cohort of 25 students started classes on October 14, 2019

Students will experience mentoring, internships and practicums while in prison.

Graduates will be deployed within the prison system to work in various capacities while serving out their term.

Four-Year Accredited Bachelor’s Program

Corban University provides a four-year curriculum to our students resulting in a Bachelor of Science degree in liberal arts emphasizing Psychology, Social Services and Leadership. The students are being taught by Corban professors in a live classroom setting (not on-line) at the Oregon State Correctional Institution (OSCI) in Salem. They will receive the same degree that Corban students receive in the free world.

Men from all prisons in Oregon will be eligible to apply. Successful applicants will be transferred from their prison to OSCI. There will be three basic criteria; 1), each man will need to have at least 8 years left on his sentence at the time of application, 2), a high school degree or GED and 3), a clean disciplinary record for one year prior to application. The reason for the 8-year requirement is that each graduate will be required to give back four years to fellow adults in custody after receiving his degree.
