Dear Supporters of PiFO,
The summer semester has started at the Corban extension in the Oregon State Correctional Institution (OSCI)! The professors are not allowed to come in and teach yet, but educational packets with instructions and homework assignments are being distributed to our students. You can pray that, hopefully, by August, the doors will be opened for live teaching once again.
As I have been doing in the past, I would like to introduce you to another one of the adults in custody (AIC’s) in our first cohort. In his response to being asked why he wanted to be a Corban student Robert wrote:
“The New King James version of Hebrews 13:3 says to ‘Remember the prisoners as if chained with them…’ I have been in prison for 37 years straight. I have prayed daily for those 37 years, and in my prayers, I have asked God to bring such a program as Corban into prison. Praise God! I have a bachelor’s degree and a law degree but none of these degrees will compare to a degree from Corban. I will receive an education as a Christian which will allow me to go and make a difference in the prison system and the world for Jesus Christ—Through Christ’s sacrifice we are set free from the prison of sin to know His joy and His love and the freedom that only His forgiveness can bring—Before my father died, he asked me to go to theology school after I got out of prison. I promised that I would. Now I can fulfill this promise I made to my father even though I am still in prison!”
You can help Robert fulfill his promise to his father through your prayers and finances. It costs $5500 per year per student to provide this transformative education which will impact the entire Oregon prison system. Please consider providing a scholarship individually, through your church, your business or your community group.
COMPUTER UPDATE: God has provided! You have met our goal of $19,600! I will be ordering the computers this week. Thank you so much!
As always, I am grateful for your tremendous support.
