As we travel through this COVID-19 crisis, I am reminded of James 1:2-3 which says “Consider it pure joy…whenever you face trials…because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” And further in Romans 5:3  Paul tells us that we “…glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance character; character, hope.” JOY in facing trials? GLORY in facing sufferings?

Our students at the Corban extension in the OSCI prison are not only facing these same trials and sufferings, but they are also facing them in circumstances that are far more isolated than us. So far COVID-19 has only minimally invaded our state prison system.

A few years ago, I received the above card from a friend. I believe it conveys a profound image of loneliness behind bars. It also conveys the idea of JOY and GLORY as evidenced by light in the background and the scripture reference to Psalm 139:7,11.

Yes, JOY and GLORY behind the bars! Please pray that our students, and the rest of the adults in custody in the Oregon prison system (and staff) and inmates in the prisons around our country and the world will be able to experience the JOY and GLORY of our Lord.

Thank you for your continued support in prayer and finances for PiFO.
