We are excited about our virtual celebration fundraiser coming up on March 11th, “The Ripple Effect.”
We believe the name, “The Ripple Effect” truly describes what happens through PiFO in prisoners’ lives, families, communities, relationships, and – inside the walls of the Oregon State Correctional Institution (OSCI). We will begin our virtual event at 7pm PST and conclude promptly at 8pm PST.
Georgene Rice, a Portland Christian talk show host, will emcee our one hour together and Ruth Graham, the daughter of the late Reverend Billy Graham will share a special message for us. Ruth is an author and public speaker with a heart for programs just like PiFO.
Additionally, we will hear from Dr. Amit Bhatia, Director of the Corban extension in OSCI. Dr. Bhatia heads the education and spiritual program for our students in college at OSCI. You will be encouraged and inspired by his enthusiasm and stories.
Pastor Clifford Jones will be sharing his thoughts on the impact that a college degree program has on a prisoner. And Pastor Jones should know. He was serving a life sentence in Angola Prison in Louisiana when he entered the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS). He was in its first graduating class and in 2006, he was miraculously released from prison. He is a perfect example of the success of this type of program. We will welcome several more guests at the event with a special appearance by a Corban University quartet, singing In Christ Alone.
