Winter classes have started at the Corban University extension in OSCI! Our 25 students began classes on January 8. They will be taking 4 courses this semester. The courses are Survey of Biblical Literature, College Writing I, Contemporary Math and General Psychology. The men were so eager to start the Winter quarter after the Christmas break that they asked for and were given their textbooks BEFORE classes started! I can’t ever remember reading a textbook before a class started.
Dr. Mike Patterson, who currently teaches in the Social Sciences Department at Corban, will be teaching General Psychology. He is a national certified counselor, board certified professional Christian counselor, licensed mental health counselor (Washington), and licensed minister of the gospel. His counseling interests focus on marriage and family, men’s issues, personality disorders, and the integration of psychology and theology, which inspired his doctoral dissertation on “The Proverbial Fool: A Biblical Perspective on the Disordered Personality.”
Dr. Patterson says “I am so excited to be teaching psychology at OSCI this semester! It is a privilege to see God’s redemptive power at work in these men as they are trained to be wise spiritual leaders in their community.”
