Dear Supporters of PiFO,

In October, the fall semester will begin at the Corban University extension in the Oregon State Correctional Institution (OSCI). At the beginning of each semester, I let you know about the subjects that are going to be taught and the professors from Corban who will be teaching them. This week I want to introduce you to Professor Sam Pearson who will be teaching AMERICAN HISTORY I.

Professor Sam Pearson is an educator committed to equity and inclusion in higher education. Sam is drawn to settings in which diverse cultures and the unique life experiences of others equip him to learn and teach more effectively. In 2013, he graduated from Corban University with a BS in History. Study abroad experiences during college motivated him to seek further education beyond the borders of the US. After earning an MA in Early Modern History at Durham University in the UK in 2015, Sam returned to the US and a staff position in the Corban University Center for Global Engagement.

Sam’s passion is educating for social change. He enjoys using education to equip himself and others for success with a focus on understanding ourselves and the world we live in. He has taught seminars in Cultural Intelligence, led study trips to three continents, and served the needs of newly arrived international students. Sam teaches history and debate for international students in the Corban Language Institute. Sam, his wife Kaitlin, and their son Charlie live on the Oregon Coast.

Here is what Sam said about why he wants to teach at the Corban extension:

“I first heard about Paid In Full Oregon when Judge Tom Kohl spoke in a Corban University chapel. Judge Kohl related a raw and personal story of forgiveness, that, in turn, God multiplied into a productive nationwide ministry. When Judge Kohl spoke, the PIFO program’s vision for hope, restoration, and exponential impact throughout the prison system stuck with me. So, when I was asked to teach a class in American History for OSCI, I felt God was calling me to this opportunity to teach for transformation. I am grateful to be part of the ministry of Corban University and Paid In Full Oregon.”

PiFO, Corban and OSCI are so blessed to have professors like Sam come and teach our students. Please pray for Sam and his students as classes begin in October.

Grateful as always,

Make a Donation.

Because of you, adults in custody who walk into prison with discouragement, pain, questions, and guilt, will begin a journey of finding hope, peace, forgiveness, joy, and new-found purpose.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Make a Donation” color=”danger” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.paidinfulloregon.org%2Fdonate%2F|||” css=”.vc_custom_1601357645156{margin-top: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3227″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
