Dear Supporters of PiFO,
Over the last year, I have been sharing some of the stories of the students in our first cohort in the Corban extension at the Oregon State Correctional Institution (OSCI). Some stories, I have learned about through face-to-face conversations and others I have learned about by reading their responses found in the written application to attend the Corban extension. Here is the question:
EXPLAIN YOUR REASONS FOR APPLYING TO THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE PROGRAM.

And here is the response of Richard:
“First and foremost I want to serve my Lord. Nothing comes before this. I want God to use me, so I can spread his word and do his works. I truly believe this is where God wants me to be. The Lord has given me the gift of being a leader, and now he is giving me an opportunity to use it.
I also want to do this for my children. The Lord says we must teach our kids, and I’m going to do that. I want to show my kids what it means to love, and to even love our enemies. I want to teach them about Jesus.
I want to help my fellow inmates. I want to love them and show them there is a better way. I want them to know that they are not alone and can be forgiven. I want them to know we have an amazing, loving, forgiving and awesome God.
I want to do all of this for God’s glory.”

Richard has been an exemplary student since day one. His attitude is that of a servant leader. Just think about this—Richard is serving God in a very unique community. Richard, along with the other students in our first cohort, are receiving a Biblically-based education which is possible only through your generous giving and God’s grace.
The cost (scholarship) for educating one student per year is $5500. Please pray about providing a scholarship, a half scholarship or even a quarter scholarship for one of our students.
On behalf of all the students in the Corban extension at OSCI, thank you!
